Cupertino, Calif. - Just nine months after launching its App Store, Apple (NASD: AAPL) said on Friday that customers have now downloaded more than 1 billion applications for their iPhone and iPod touch devices.

A 13-year-old boy, Connor Mulcahey of Weston, Conn., downloaded the milestone app, Bump Technologies' Bump contact information program.

He will receive a $10,000 iTunes gift card, as well as other assorted prizes.

The App Store currently has more than 35,000 applications available to consumers in 77 countries.
