Apple's App Store Surpasses 1 Billion Application Downloads
Cupertino,
Calif. - Just nine months after
launching its App Store, Apple (NASD: AAPL) said on Friday that customers have now
downloaded more than 1 billion applications for their iPhone and iPod touch
devices.
A 13-year-old boy, Connor Mulcahey of Weston, Conn., downloaded the milestone app, Bump
Technologies' Bump contact information program.
He will receive a $10,000
iTunes gift card, as well as other assorted prizes.
The App Store currently has
more than 35,000 applications available to consumers in 77 countries.
