Washington
- Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) said on Tuesday that he plans next week to
introduce his bill that would overturn the U.S. ban on Internet gambling,
Reuters reported. "We'll be introducing it next week and I plan to move on
it," Frank told Reuters.Under the three-year-old law, enacted by the Bush administration, banks and credit card companies were forbidden from doing business with overseas-based online casinos. The move forced European and other Web gambling companies to shutter their services to U.S. residents. Several executives at these firms were also arrested while travelling in the U.S. over their companies' activities, and some still face possible prosecution.
