IAC Acquires Restaurant Reviews Aggregator Urbanspoon

New York - IAC, the operator of over 35 Internet firms including Citysearch, Evite and Match.com, announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Urbanspoon, an online local restaurant guide.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2006, Seattle-based Urbanspoon aggregates restaurant reviews from across the Web.

Urbanspoon's popular iPhone application allows users to shake their handsets and receive a list of suggestions of nearby restaurants.

The company will remain an independent brand within IAC, and complement the company's stable of localized online brands.
