San Antonio, Texas - Clear Channel, the largest radio station owner in the U.S. with 900 stations, announced on Wednesday that it will lay off around 590 employees, following an earlier round of 1,850 layoffs in January.

Additionally, PaidContent reported that the current round of layoffs could reach as many as 1,000, citing what CEO Mark Mays said earlier today on an internal conference call.

The layoffs are expected to hit the company's programming, engineering and customer service employees.
