Calif. - Booyah, a developer of
social mobile games, said on Thursday that it has raised $4.5 million in its
first round of financing from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, as part of
the firm's iFund -- which invests in developers of games for Apple's iPhone and
iPod touch.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Booyah was founded by former executives at Blizzard Entertainment and Insomniac Games. The company plans to release its first product in the spring, which it describes as "a playful life companion that combines the immersive experiences that draw consumers to massively multi-player online games, the interconnectedness of social media, and the power of the iPhone and iPod touch."
