- The White House said on Wednesday night that President Obama plans to
nominate Mignon Clyburn, the daughter of House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn, to
the five-member Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Clyburn, an 11-year member of the South Carolina Public Service Commission, would work under FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski, who also still must be confirmed by the Senate. She also previously spent 14 years as publisher and general manager of The Coastal Times, a weekly newspaper in Charleston, S.C.
