Framingham, Mass. - IDG Communications, a provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets, has consolidated staff for some of its main brands into one business unit that now includes the CIO, Computerworld, InfoWorld, Network World, CSO, IT World and Industry Standard titles.

As a result of the restructuring, about 8% of the company's U.S. workforce has been cut, according to a report in Folio magazine.

"IDG Communications began resource sharing among its b-to-b media brands several years ago when it transitioned from a print publishing to web-centric business model," the company said in a statement, contained in the Folio report.

"This restructuring completes that process and will ensure that IDG's b-to-b brands are staffed to rapidly and effectively meet technology marketers' need for creative, multimedia marketing programs and related services."
