New York - CBS (NYSE: CBS) on Tuesday announced the formation of the CBS Interactive Music Group, a new unit that will combine CBS Radio's over 100 music websites and mobile applications with the Last.fm social music discovery service it acquired for $280 million in 2007.

The new unit will be led by David Goodman, who has been with CBS Radio since 2002 and served as president of digital media and integrated marketing since late 2007.

The company said that the group's combined reach will be almost 40 million monthly unique users worldwide.

"The time is right to create a focused strategy that brings together the knowledge and expertise of both divisions so we can realize our true potential," said CBS Interactive CEO Quincy Smith.
