File-Sharing Hub Mininova Begins Filtering Copyrighted MediaAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on May 6, 2009 - 11:48am.
Los Angeles
- With a court date looming, Mininova, which is considered the largest
BitTorrent tracker site on the Internet, has begun to implement technology
recommended by content owners to filter copyrighted content, TorrentFreak
reported.
Mininova co-founder 'Niek' told TorrentFreak that the system will be tested for three months on a limited number of titles, and will be evaluated in court proceedings as part of Dutch anti-piracy agency BREIN's lawsuit against the site. To date, Mininova maintains that it has abided by all copyright holders' requests to take down torrents associated with copyrighted media.
