San Francisco - Vevo, the music video website joint venture
between major record label Universal Music Group and Google's (NASD: GOOG) YouTube, is
expected to name Rio Caraeff, currently executive vice president of Universal's
eLabs unit, has president of Vevo, CNET News.com reported, citing sources close
to Vevo.
Announced in April, the joint venture is expected to showcase music videos from Universal and other major label artists when it launches later this year. Universal Music's YouTube channel is the most popular on the entire site, counting over 3.5 billion views. The ad-supported Vevo site is seen as a means for the major labels to more effectively capitalize on the popularity of music videos online
