San Francisco
- Sling Media, a unit of EchoStar (NASD: SATS) that provides media place-shifting
technology, on Wednesday introduced a $30 iPhone application that allows users
to stream their home TV channels to the device over a Wi-Fi connection. Wired.com
notes that Apple and network partner AT&T "crippled" the
application by preventing it from streaming video over a 3G connection, despite
owners of other AT&T smartphones like the BlackBerry and Motorola Q being
able to use Sling to stream 3G video.
