WWE Loses Appeal of Case Against Game Maker JakksAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on May 21, 2009 - 9:19am.
Malibu, Calif. - Toy and video game maker Jakks
Pacific (NASD: JAKK) announced on Thursday that the Second Circuit Court of Appeals has
unanimously affirmed a lower court's ruling dismissing WWE's (NYSE: WWE) claims that the
company bribed several WWE employees in securing a licensing deal for pro
wrestling video games.
WWE had also filed federal and state antitrust claims against Jakks, which the lower court dismissed as well. THQ and Jakks retain the rights to publish WWE wrestling games through the end of this year; WWE has already awarded the license going forward to toymaker Mattel.
