Seattle - Online retail giant Amazon.com (NASD: AMZN) is expected to announce a partnership with no-frills digital music distributor TuneCore, providing artists with a means to distribute on-demand physical CDs via Amazon's CreateSpace service, Wired.com reports.

Under the expected deal, TuneCore will charge $31 a year for a ten-track CD album, including pressing, CD artwork and delivery to customers.

"As an artist, you have unlimited physical inventory, made on demand, with no upfront costs and worldwide distribution to anyone who orders it at Amazon.com," TuneCore CEO Jeff Price told Wired.

TuneCore's primary service allows any artist to upload digital tracks, which TuneCore then distributes through digital retailers like the iTunes Store and Amazon MP3.

Chief executive Price told Wired that TuneCore artists have generated over $32 million in revenue over the past 22 months.

Thanks for the mention!

Thanks for reporting this, but let me just note that TuneCore is actually stocked to the gills with "frills"--that is, there's a lot more to us than digital delivery, and even that comes with tremendous marketing and promotion opportunities. The only thing is, we don't charge people for these extras. Thanks again. Feel free to write with any questions. --Peter peter@tunecore.com

This is just awesome how

This is just awesome how TuneCore works. There is another service that is also making waves called WaTunes. They let you sell your music on iTunes for free and give you 100% of your royalties. Has anyone used their services?
