38 Studios Acquires Big Huge Games
Maynard,
Mass. - 38 Studios, the game
studio founded by former Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, announced on Wednesday
that it has acquired Maryland-based Big Huge Games.
Terms between the two
privately held firms were not disclosed.
The acquisition is "a critical
step in 38 Studios' strategy to deliver a broad range of entertainment products
centered on its original fantasy IP, codenamed 'Copernicus'," according to
the announcement.
The purchase of Big Huge Games includes all of the company's
IP, tools, technology, assets, and works-in-progress.
Founded in 2000, Big Huge
Games is responsible for titles including "Rise of Nations."
