Microsoft Debuts Motion-Sensing Camera Controller for XboxAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on June 1, 2009 - 1:27pm.
Los Angeles - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) introduced
"Project Natal," a motion-sensing camera controller accessory for the
Xbox 360, on Monday at the E3 video game convention in Los Angeles. "The 'Project Natal' sensor
is the world's first to combine an RGB camera, depth sensor, multi-array
microphone and custom processor running proprietary software all in one
device," the company said."Unlike 2-D cameras and controllers, "Project Natal" tracks your full body movement in 3-D, while responding to commands, directions and even a shift of emotion in your voice." The company also announced that it will add streaming radio stations from Last.fm, status updates, photos and tweets from Facebook and Twitter, live TV from BSkyB, and a wider range of titles from Netflix to the offering on its Xbox Live service for Xbox 360.
