Founder to Re-launch Electronic Gaming MagazineAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on June 2, 2009 - 8:12am.
Beverly Hills,
Calif. - The founder of
Electronic Gaming Magazine, Steve Harris, announced on Tuesday that he has
signed a deal with publisher Ziff Davis Media to re-acquire certain assets of
the publication, including trademarks and publishing rights, and plans to
re-launch EGM in the second half of 2009.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. EGM was launched in 1988 by Harris, who eventually sold the publication to Ziff Davis in 1996. Ziff Davis shuttered EGM in January, when it also sold off its 1UP video game-related website to Hearst. "The twenty year success of the EGM brand has always been built upon a commitment to its readers who I believe will enthusiastically embrace the changes we are planning to introduce," said Harris.
