Redwood City, Calif. - A recent survey that compared the media buying habits of average American Internet users with users of the Vuze peer-to-peer file-sharing application found that P2P users are actually "avid supporters of the entertainment industry, who spend considerable money on traditional media and entertainment."

Conducted by Frank N. Magid Associates on behalf of Vuze, the survey found that the Vuze audience attends 34% more movies in theaters, purchases 34% more DVDs, and rents 24% more movies for a fee than the average Internet audience in a given year.

"The clear message to the entertainment industry is that Vuze users aren't simply your customers -- they're your best customers," said Mike Vorhaus, president of Magid Advisors.

The survey also found that 17% of the Vuze audience earns more than $100,000 per year -- the same as the national sample -- while 65% own an HDTV (vs. 60% in the national sample); 53% have a home theater sound system connected to their TV (vs. 39%); 41% own a smartphone (vs. 28%) and 35% own a high-definition DVD player (vs. 27%).

The entertainment industry should embrace these top consumers, and do more to encourage them to spend their entertainment dollars online," said Vuze CEO Gilles BianRosa.
