"The Sims 3" Extends Marriage Rights to Virtual Gays, Lesbians
Los Angeles
- For the first time in the franchise, virtual characters of the same sex in
Electronic Arts' (NASD: ERTS) "The Sims 3" will be able to marry one another,
AfterElton.com reports. In the original "The Sims" title, gay couples
could only live together in virtual houses. The release of "The Sims
2" in 2004 added the ability for gay Sims to be "joined," and
receive the same functions of marriage in the game, aside from the name. With
"The Sims 3," gay and lesbian Sims characters now enjoy full marriage
equality.
