Group to Standardize Platform for High School Sports VideoAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on June 5, 2009 - 8:06am.
Wheeling,
W.Va. - HighSchoolSports.net, a
West Virginia-based division of newspaper publisher Gannett that publishes high
school sports information and schedules on the Web, said that it has formed a
new industry alliance aimed at standardizing the technology used to produce and
distribute high school sports video.
The High School Sports Technology Alliance also includes Minnesota-based PrepAthlete.com, Alabama-based CoachComm and Nebraska-based GamePlan Technologies. "What's been missing has been a common platform for high school sports video and a safe place for our children to view it," said Adolph Santorine, the president of HighSchoolSports.net. "We believe that our working together is the solution." Members of the alliance collectively have relationships with over 16,000 high schools, as well as nearly every football coach in the nation. Programs initially will have access to more than 2 million still photos and nearly 100,000 video highlights, including nearly 30,000 full game videos. "The best part of this alliance is that it will make it easier and faster for coaches to edit their game video, execute Internet game exchange, and get video and stats to the local media as well as college recruiters," said Peter Amos, the president of CoachComm.
