Palo Alto, Calif. - Facebook informed its users on
Tuesday that, beginning on Friday evening, they will be able to select a
username by which their personal profiles will be identified by URL. Instead of
URLs like "facebook.com/profile.php?id=12345," users can opt for a
personal URL like "facebook.com/mark.zuckerberg." Starting at 12:01
a.m. EDT on Saturday, June 13, usernames will be available on a first-come,
first-serve basis.
