Report: Craigslist Revenue to Top $100 Million This YearAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on June 11, 2009 - 9:47am.
Los Angeles
- Online classifieds giant Craigslist is on track to generate $100 million in
revenue this year, up 23% from its estimated revenue of $81 million last year,
according to a report from market research firm AIM Group/Classified
Intelligence.
The firm began estimating Craigslist's revenue in 2003, when it projected $7 million in revenue. Its basic methodology is to count the number of ads on the site; Craigslist charges $75 for job ads in San Francisco, and $25 in most other cities, as well as $10 for adult listings, and $10 for apartment ads in New York City. Wired.com used the same methodology and itself estimated that Craigslist revenue could actually be more than $300 million this year. The company would not comment on either revenue estimate when asked by Wired.
