Clear Channel to Offer Artist-Programmed Web Radio StationsAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on June 12, 2009 - 8:31am.
New York
- Clear Channel Radio has partnered with artist management firm Front Line to
launch a new series of artist-programmed Internet radio stations, Billboard
reported.
The ad-supported a.p.e. ("artist personal experience") stations will launch next month from artists including the Eagles, Weezer and Christina Aguilera, who will share in ad revenue generated by their stations. The streaming stations will be available on Clear Channel station websites, artists' websites, and via Clear Channle's iheartradio mobile application for iPhone and BlackBerry. The stations will offer some 1,000 songs in rotation updated weekly -- including some from the artists themselves, and their own favorites -- along with commentary, interviews and other content.
