New York - Of the estimated 6.4 million iPhone (NASD: AAPL) owners in the
U.S. as of April, roughly the same number are over 55 as are ages 13-24,
according to Nielsen.
The firm says that 18% of U.S. iPhone owners are 13-24, while 17% are 55 or older; 29% are 25-34, and 36% are 35-54. Nielsen also estimated that 37% of iPhone owners watch video on the device, six times as likely as the typical wireless subscriber. Seventy-five percent of U.S. iPhone owners download applications to their handsets -- 5 times as likely as a typical subscriber, and 88% use the Internet, 4 times as likely as typical cell phone owners.
