Calif. - LinkedIn, the operator
of an online professional network with more than 42 million members, on
Wednesday named Jeff Weiner as its new CEO, replacing company founder Reid
Hoffman, who will remain executive chairman.
Weiner, a former executive-in-residence at executive in residence at Accel Partners and Greylock Partners, had served as LinkedIn's interim president since January. "Over the past six months, Jeff has done an exceptional job leading the company and I look forward to continuing the work that we have begun together," said Hoffman. LinkedIn has secured more than $100 million in funding since its inception, and posted a profit in 2008.
