London - Smartphone maker HTC on Wednesday introduced its third handset model to run on Google's (NASD: GOOG) Android operating system, the HTC Hero, which will sport a customized user interface. Pricing was not provided for the device, which will first launch in Europe in July, and then in Asia later in the summer followed by a North American version slated for release later this year.

The Hero will come with a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 5-megapixel autofocus camera, GPS and expandable microSD memory card slot. It will also be the first Android phone to support Adobe's Flash platform.

Among other features, HTC is promoting the device's ability to let users see "friends Facebook status updates and photos along with their Flickr photos are included along side their text messages, emails and call history in a single view."
