ZeniMax Raised $105M for id Acquisition; Names Ripken to BoardAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on July 9, 2009 - 7:16am.
Rockville,
Md. - ZeniMax Media, the parent
company of game developer Bethesda Softworks, said that it raised $105 million
through a debt offering to pay for last month's acquisition of id Software, the
Texas-based developer of game franchises such as "Doom,"
"Quake" and "Wolfenstein."
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), ZeniMax said that it raised the funds through a mixture of convertible debt and promissory notes. The company also disclosed that it has named Baltimore Orioles Hall-of-Famer Cal Ripken to its board of directors, in addition to such notables as CBS President Les Moonves and Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer. ZeniMax announced its deal for id Software in late June.
