Weather Channel Names Former AOL Executive as New CEO

Atlanta - The Weather Channel on Monday named former AOL executive Michael Kelly as its new president and CEO. Kelly, who previously served as the president of AOL Media Networks, replaces Lisa Gersh, the president of strategic initiatives at NBC Universal, who has been serving as interim CEO. The move comes a year after Landmark Communications sold the network for a reported $3.5 billion to NBC Universal and private equity firms Blackstone Group and Bain Capital.
