St. John's, Antigua - Zookz, a recently launched unlimited music and video download service based on the island nation of Antigua, has shut down and refunded membership fees after being disavowed by the Antiguan government, NewTeeVee reported.

The company was charging less than $20 per month for unlimited music and video downloads, and claimed that it was not subject to U.S. copyright law  -- due to a ruling from the World Trade Organization following a dispute between Antigua and the U.S. over Web gambling.

However, the government of Antigua issued a press release disavowing the service, and its claim to be operating legally under the WTO ruling.

"ZookZ website is temporarily not operating due to circumstances beyond our control and we are sorry you can't get the music and movies you love at this time," read a note on the company's site.

"Due to this interruption, ZookZ is returning all membership fees paid to date by our existing customers. Your business is greatly appreciated and we look forward to getting you the best movies and music again soon."
