- Kontera, a provider of in-text advertising services for publishers, announced
on Thursday that it has closed a $15.5 million round of new financing, led by
Sequoia Capital.
Tenaya Capital and Carmel Ventures also participated in the round. Founded in 2003, San Francisco-based Kontera reaches more than 100 million unique visitors per month with its pop-up ads that are attached to the text of online news articles and other content from over 15,000 publishers. The company said its audience has increased by 40% over the past 12 months. Kontera will use the new funds to sacle its network faster, and to expand its real-time semantic analysis platform and products.
