Dulles, Va. - Time Warner's (NYSE: TWX) AOL has officially done away with its three core brands -- MediaGlow, Platform-A and People Networks -- company executives announced Friday morning in front of about 2,000 employees at its facilities in Dulles, Va.

According to the blog Silicon Alley Insider, the company's Platform-A ad unit is now called AOL Advertising, its MediaGlow unit is now AOL Media and its People Networks social networking unit -- which oversaw properties such as Bebo and AIM -- has been eliminated.

The event, held in an air-conditioned tent, featured AOL veterans Steve Case and Ted Leonsis, in addition to new CEO Tim Armstrong and business icons Warren Buffett and Martha Stewart.

Armstrong also revealed that the new slogan of AOL, which is in the process if spinning out from parent Time Warner, will be: "To inform, entertain and connect the world."
