Strict New Copyright Law Takes Effect in South KoreaAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on July 24, 2009 - 7:46am.
Los Angeles - South Korea implemented
a tough new "three-strikes" copyright law this week, which will
empower authorities to sever the Internet connections of repeat copyright infringers
for six months, TorrentFreak reports.
The law as written, however, could be enforced beyond file-sharing onto social networks and other places where users share content. The operator of popular Korean social network Cyworld has warned its members that it is now also illegal in the country to post copyrighted images or videos, song lyrics and book excerpts online.
