USA Today to Launch New E-EditionAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on July 27, 2009 - 11:15am.
McLean, Va. - Searching for ways to generate revenue
amid the downturn in ad sales, Gannett's (NYSE: GCI) USA Today on Monday announced plans to
launch a new e-edition -- a page-by-page exact replica of its daily paper
delivered to subscribers' email accounts by 5:30 a.m. each morning. The
service, to launch Aug. 3, also will feature additional interactive and
exclusive content, as well as a Saturday-Sunday edition called USA Today Extra.
Current subscribers of the paper will automatically receive the service, which
also will be sold in digital format for $99 a year.
