Owner of U.K. BitTorrent Hub FileSoup ArrestedAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on August 4, 2009 - 11:19am.
London - The owner of
FileSoup, a veteran BitTorrent file-sharing hub that predates The Pirate Bay,
has been arrested during a raid on his U.K. home by anti-piracy group FACT,
TorrentFreak reported.
The FileSoup owner, known as 'TheGeeker', was arrested on suspicion of downloading copyrighted movies, and told TorrentFreak he was not allowed to make his obligatory phone call until after being held for more than seven hours. He was informed that FACT had seized a 12-page-long list of items from his residence before being released on bail. The FileSoup site remains operational, TorrentFreak noted, and TheGeeker will be called back to the station in October.
