- WideOrbit, a provider of business management software for media companies,
announced on Wednesday that it has acquired Google's (NASD: GOOG) radio automation business
for an undisclosed sum.
The deal includes Google Radio Automation, Maestro and SS32 automation products. Founded in 1999, San Francisco-based WideOrbit provides traffic, revenue management and billing software for radio broadcasters. The company said its service is used by more than 1,300 stations, to manage more than $12 billion in advertising revenue. WideOrbit said the deal will provide it with 3,600 new Google Radio Automation customers. "We are confident that WideOrbit will make every effort to improve the technology and serve existing customers at the highest possible level," said Jim Woods, director of product management at Google.
