New York - WebMediaBrands (NASD: WEBM), the online media company run by publishing industry veteran Alan Meckler, announced on Monday that it is selling its Internet.com family of technology trade publications to marketing firm QuinStreet for about $18 million. "We believe that this transaction will be beneficial to WebMediaBrands and its stockholders as it will significantly improve our balance sheet and at the same time allow us to focus on growing BtoB communities in the non-tech space," said Meckler.

Meckler's Internet.com publishes sites including Internet.com and InternetNews.com, and produced the InternetWorld trade show.

Following the sale of the Internet.com assets, WebMediaBrands will continue to operate sites including Mediabistro.com and Graphics.com.
