Mobile Content Distributor Thumbplay Gets $2 Million

New York - Mobile content distributor Thumbplay has added $2 million to a $6 million sixth round of venture capital financing it announced in March, PaidContent reported, citing an SEC filing.

Details on investors were not provided, but the company's shareholders include Brookside Capital Advisors, Cross Creek Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, Redwood Partners, New Enterprise Associates and Meritech Capital Partners.

Founded in 2004, New York-based Thumbplay offers a $9.99 per month subscription service that lets mobile users download ringtones, full songs, games and other mobile content.
