Redmond,
Wash. - Microsoft (NASD: MSFT) on Thursday
announced plans to drop the price of its Xbox 360 video game consoles, knocking
$100 off the cost of its 120GB Elite model, which will now sell for $300.
However, the price cut on the Elite model also includes the removal of costly
component and HDMI connector cables from the box.
The company will also
discount the price of its Xbox 360 Pro console by $50, to $249 -- while
supplies last.
Microsoft noted that its current crop of Xbox 360 consoles
will work with its "Project Natal" controller-free gaming scenario,
announced earlier this year.
