Berkeley, Calif. - MOG, a network of user-created music blogs, announced on Friday that it has closed a $5 million equity financing round, led by Menlo Ventures.

Previous backers Simon Equity Partners and Scott Jones also participated in the round, which brings MOG's total funding raised to date to $12.5 million.

Founded in 2005 Berkeley, Calif.-based MOG sees over 6,000 music blog posts created each week by its contributors, and receives over 8 million unique monthly visitors.

The company is also backed by major record labels Universal and Sony.

"We have plans to be a leader in not just editorial music content but in music listening as well," said MOG founder and CEO David Hyman.
