Reston, Va. - Over 158 million U.S. Internet users watched online videos during July -- the largest audience ever recorded -- and streamed a record 21.4 billion videos during the month, according to a report from Internet audience measurement firm comScore.

The report found that 81% of the total U.S. Internet audience viewed online video in July, with the average online viewer watching 500 minutes of video, or 8.3 hours.

Google-owned (NASD: GOOG) sites led all video views, followed by Microsoft (NASD: MSFT), News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) Fox Interactive Media, Yahoo (NASD: YHOO), Viacom (NYSE: VIA) and Hulu.

YouTube served up 8.9 billion videos to 120.3 million viewers, while MySpace served 518.6 million videos to 48.2 million viewers.

The Hulu online video joint venture between News Corp., NBC Universal (NYSE: GE) and Disney (NYSE: DIS) also reported a record 457 million video views in July.

Part of the record viewing can be attributed to the streamed funeral of Michael Jackson.
