TwitVid.io Becomes Vidly, Raises $500K for Mobile VideoAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on August 31, 2009 - 9:41am.
San Francisco
- Vidly, a developer of mobile video sharing applications formerly known as
TwitVid.io, has raised $500,000 in funding, from investors including Ron
Conway, VentureBeat reported.
San Francisco-based Vidly says the name change was made in part to clear up confusion with a number of similar ventures, and to signal its focus has moved beyond Twitter. Vidly CEO Chrys Bader told VentureBeat the company plans in the fall to expand support for its mobile video-sharing application to YouTube, Facebook and MySpace, and to platforms including BlackBerry and Android.
