Analysis: Twitter Overtakes MySpace in the UKAuthored by Robin Goad on September 1, 2009 - 6:44am.
A couple of points worth considering: • If anything, Twitter is even more popular than our numbers imply, as we are only measuring traffic to the main Twitter website. If the people accessing their Twitter accounts via mobile phones and third party applications (such as Twitterrific, Twitterfeed and Tweetdeck) were included, the numbers would be even higher. Of course, MySpace also picks up a significant amount of traffic outside of the MySpace.com domain, particularly via mobile platforms. • The social networking rankings are changing pretty fast in the UK. Last month we announced that BBC iPlayer had also overtaken MySpace, and as the table below illustrates, Twitter now ranks fourth in the UK and is catching up with Bebo.
