- DivX, a developer of video compression technology, announced that it has
acquired AnySource Media, the developer of an Internet television streaming
platform, for $7.5 million in cash.
Additional cash payments of up to $7.5 million could be paid over three years, if certain milestones are met. Malvern, Penn.-based AnySource's software lets users connect their televisions to online services. The service enables playback of hundreds of virtual on-demand channels directly via HDTVs, Blu-ray disc players, mobile phones and other devices. "The AnySource streaming platform combined with our high-quality device certification program and our deep relationships with both consumer electronics companies and Hollywood studios puts us in an enviable position in this rapidly emerging market," said DivX CEO Kevin Hell.
