San Bruno,
Calif. - YouTube, the popular
online video site owned by Google (NASD: GOOG), is in talks with movie studios Lionsgate,
Sony (NYSE: SNE) and Warner Bros. (NYSE: TWX) about the possibility of streaming movies that site
visitors could view for a fee, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday.
The agreements likely would include newer titles, in some cases launching on
YouTube the same day they are released on DVD for around $3.99.
Other movies,
the Journal reported, could be available for free, accompanied by advertising.
