San Francisco - Apple (NASD: AAPL) has obtained licenses from the record labels to offer pre-made ringtones, and is working to have them ready for next week's music-related press event, CNET News.com reported, citing "music industry sources."

The company already offers the ability for iTunes users to create their own custom ringtones.

Also expected at the Sept. 9 event is the introduction of "Cocktail," a new digital album cover format.

Other rumored announcements include an updated line of iPods, and possibly the long-awaited arrival of the Beatles catalog in the iTunes Store.

Sept. 9 is also the release date for EMI's remastered Beatles CD catalog, and the "Beatles: Rock Band" video game.
