Calif. - Disney Interactive
Studios (NYSE: DIS) announced on Tuesday that it will acquire Wideload Games, a video game
development studio launched by Bungie Software founder Alexander Seropian.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Seropian will now oversee creative development across Disney Interactive Studios' portfolio of video games. Seropian founded Bungie Software in 1991, which was acquired by Microsoft in 2000 and later created the "Halo" game franchise. He went on to found Chicago-based Wideload Games in 2003, which has published titles including "Stubbs the Zombie," "Hail to the Chimp" and "Cyclomite." Disney said that Wideload is currently developing an unannounced original family console game, scheduled for release in 2010.
