Washington - Google (NASD: GOOG) said in a regulatory filing made public on Friday that Apple's (NASD: AAPL) head of marketing told the company its Google Voice application was rejected from the iPhone App Store, despite Apple's contention that its review of Google's submission is still ongoing, the Associated Press reported. Some elements of the filing had been redacted, but Google asked the FCC to post the entire filing "in the interest of transparency."

In the filing, Google says that Apple's Phil Schiller told Google senior vice president Alan Eustace over the phone on July 7 that Google Voice had been rejected from the App Store because it duplicated core functionalities of the iPhone.

For its part, Apple maintained its position that it has not rejected the Google Voice application.

"We do not agree with all of the statements made by Google in their FCC letter," Apple spokesman Steve Dowling told Reuters. "Apple has not rejected the Google voice application, and we continue to discuss it with Google."
