New York - EPIX, the pay-TV
and video-on-demand movie service joint venture between Viacom (NYSE: VIA), Paramount, MGM and
Lionsgate, announced on Monday that it plans to offer at least 3,000 films
online via EPIX Megaplex, the online version of its service.
The online film library, set to launch by mid-2010, will include both library titles and new releases, to include many films that have not yet been digitized. In addition to films, the network and website will also offer original series, music and comedy specials. PaidContent noted that the EPIX Megaplex service will only be available to subscribers to cable, satellite or telco TV services that carry the EPIX pay-TV channel -- which to date includes just one provider, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) FiOS.
