Report: Warner Music, YouTube Close to Music Video Deal

New York - Major record label Warner Music Group (NYSE: WMG) and Google's (NASD: GOOG) YouTube "have managed to reach terms on most of the major issues" of a dispute over licensing music videos for display on YouTube, and "a final deal could be announced within the next few weeks," CNET News.com reported, citing sources with knowledge of the talks.

Warner pulled its music videos from YouTube back in late 2008, after failed licensing renegotiations.

The record label said at the time that the payments YouTube would agree to "fail to appropriately and fairly compensate recording artists, songwriters, labels and publishers for the value they provide."

CNET previously reported in July that Warner and YouTube had reopened negotiations.

Music videos are the most popular form of content on YouTube; Universal Music Group has the most-popular YouTube channel of all.
