Los Angeles - News Corp.'s (NYSE: NWS) IGN Entertainment gaming unit announced on Thursday that it has acquired What They Play, a two-year-old site designed for parents and families looking for information about interactive entertainment.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"As gaming continues to expand into new markets with next generation platforms, immersive online gaming experiences and ever more impressive iPhone titles, this will allow the site to reach even more parents and families in need of this information," said John Davison, president of What They Play.

IGN will add What They Play to its network of sites -- including IGN.com, GameSpy, TeamXbox and Rotten Tomatoes -- which draw a combined 34.5 million unique monthly visitors worldwide.
