Shutterstock Acquires BigStockPhoto

New York - Shutterstock, a subscription-based stock photo agency, announced that it has acquired BigStockPhoto, a credit-based stock photo agency.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Founded in 2004 as an alternative to high-priced stock photography, BigStockPhoto maintains a library of 3.7 million royalty-free photos.

Shutterstock plans to grow the company's global presence through investments in marketing, infrastructure and user experience.
